Key Impacts
Measuring impact is essential. Rather than assuming a solar light has a positive impact on a family’s life, we would rather prove it.
This is to ensure we continuously improve on our services to humanity and make sure ever partners, volunteers and supported see the impact they make when they donate or support.
Basically, we know that the impact of solar light to a family includes;
- The household saves 10% of their income, as they no longer have to buy fuel, candles or kerosene
- Every member of the household uses the light
- Thousands of extra study hours for the children
- Most household reports better health from not breathing toxic fumes.
This only proves that Solar light changes everything.
Health
Every solar energy in a rural household results in stoppage of regular use of kerosene lamps and this results to less or no indoor air pollution. Kerosene lanterns emits fine particulates, nitric oxides, carbon monoxide and Sulfur when burned. These may reduce functions of the lungs and increase cancer and asthma risk. Handling is also very dangerous as kerosene is irritating to eyes, skin and respiratory system.
Education
ITASPA gathered that benefit of solar energy in a rural household ultimately improves situation for studies. Also, solar energy present children with the possibility to study at night, and their exposure to TVs and radios. Ultimately extra study hour improvs, children performance, attendance, concentration and motivation in school. Children who do well at school are most likely going to stay longer and gain higher level of education which in turn benefit themselves, their families and their society at large
Economy
The word energy means the ability to do work. With the availability of solar energy, families in rural areas are able to do more work, and also save costs. Traders have brighter, safer and cleaner light to stay longer at their shops. Ultimately, families are able to save the money they spend on kerosene, candles, and battery torches on school costs, food and investment in livelihoods, this in turn start a virtuous cycle of development and progress.
LIGHT UP RURAL AREAS IN NIGERIA
This project is a humanitarian initiative, designed to reach out to individuals who do not have opportunities or have been denied access to government-provided electricity due to economic challenges or geographical locations.
The goal of this project is to provide electricity, by supplying and installing solar panels and batteries to at least 3,000 households in Nigeria by the end of 2027; no cost to the beneficiaries, thereby demystifying the narrative of electric inclusion for the benefit of the less privileged and distant rural communities.
